Giant Eagle Owl: Also know as Verreaux's eagle-owl, this is a large owl 24-26 inches in length with a wingspan of 55 inches. It is considered an avian apex predator, meaning it is at or near the top of the food chain and healthy adults normally have no natural predators. It feeds on young and adult monkeys, springhares, hares, genets, hyraxes, mongoose, ground squirrels, bats and various rats and mice. Taken on July 6, 2014 at Savuti Camp in Botswana
